What's Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a very rich tradition characterized by many different styles, theories, and approaches, inspired by the medicine of different countries such as China, Vietnam, Japan, and Korea, and now, Western countries. It is a powerful medicine that has proven its value over thousands of years starting in China and now practiced literally all over the world.(from “neuroacupuncture by Michael D. Corradino)
Modern science has discovered that inserting fine needles at acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system and releases chemicals such as endorphins to alleviate pain. However, acupuncture is much more than just pain reduction or pain management.
How does acupuncture work
About 2000 years ago, ancient Chinese people found out that the human body has different networks. They called these networks Channels and Collaterals. They discovered that these networks can deliver Energy-Qi to regulate body health. Gradually they found so many spots on the channels to help people maintain health by stimulating these points. These points are called acupoints by modern people.
From a modern science perspective, our nervous system, myofascial system and cardiovascular system belong to the system of channels and collaterals. Lots of researches about acupuncture in China and America provide solid evidences to support that acupuncture can help heal the disorders.

Pain Relief
Research led by Professor Han Jisheng demonstrated that acupuncture stimulation prompts the brain to produce endorphins and dynorphins, while the gut secretes serotonin, contributing to pain relief and overall well-being.
Digestive Support
Acupuncture enhances the digestive system, enabling the body to fully absorb nutrients and efficiently eliminate waste. This ensures optimal functioning of the internal organs and supports overall health.
Acupuncture in Gynecology
Acupuncture plays a significant role in addressing gynecological issues, including:
- Relieving menstrual cramps.
- Regulating menstrual cycles.
- Helping patients with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) restore normal cycles.
- Promoting pregnancy.
Clinical data strongly supports acupuncture as an effective complement for IVF patients, helping them achieve healthy pregnancies.
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Acupuncture is also used as an anti-aging therapy. When needles are inserted into the face, they stimulate blood flow and collagen production, helping to plump the skin and reduce fine and deep lines for a more youthful appearance.
Acupuncture
Absolutely. Case work from thousand years of clinical practice and recent scientific studies prove that acupuncture is a safe and efficient natural approach.
This varies with the individual and is dependent on whether the patient has an acute condition such as an accident injury, a chronic problem or is being treated for wellness. Frequency varies from one or two times a week for several months to a few times a year for a physical tune-up. For cosmetic acupuncture, we recommend twice weekly for two weeks, with a follow-up of weekly treatments for six weeks. After that, maintenance sessions are only required once every couple of months, or the entire cycle can be repeated within a half year.
Acupuncture needles are much thinner than the hypodermic needles that you see in the doctor's office. They don't have a hollow center either. Everyone reacts differently - you may feel a tiny prick on the skin when the needles are inserted. Thereafter, you may experience a variety of sensations - a heaviness or numbness radiating from the insertion point or a small electric charge. Any awkward or uncomfortable sensations don't last for long. The majority of patients find the treatments very relaxing and fall asleep on the treatment table. You may sometimes feel the energy flowing through your body.
Acupuncture needles are sterile, designed for single-use only, and disposed of as surgical instruments. Needles come in varying diameters, but all are very fine and flexible. There is absolutely no risk of infection.
Infrequently. Most often, a period of relaxation is experienced. There are rare occasions when a patient will feel sensations as if the needles were still in him or her even after they have been taken out. Those happen rarely - more often than not, a patient will fall asleep on the treatment bed.
Needles can be inserted anywhere on the body, the back, front, abdomen, hands, feet or the head. Dress in loose comfortable clothes to provide easy access to the required acupoints.
Acupuncture has been used in the healing tradition in China for several thousand years. It is currently widely practiced across the globe, and is increasingly used in the USA and Canada as a non-invasive, alternative form of healing.
